Update from Rob Molhoek MP MAICD
Many locals have expressed their concerns with me recently about escalating youth crime and anti-social behaviour in our community. I have also been listening to locals about how the cost of living continues to be an issue that is not being treated. I have been listening and am working to hold the government accountable for their lack of action.
In our last sitting week, I fought for Queenslanders. Here are some highlights from Parliament:
- We held the government accountable for the youth crime epidemic.
- We passed important new measures to combat domestic and family violence.
- I paid tribute to my friend Paul Broughton who passed recently.
Youth crime remains a pressing issue in our state, and as an opposition, we have been working tirelessly to hold the government accountable for their lack of action. While there has been some progress made in recent weeks, it's clear that more needs to be done to combat this epidemic.
We welcome the introduction of Breach of Bail by the government in response to our calls for action. However, we believe that this is still not enough to tackle the root causes of youth crime.
We will continue to push for more comprehensive solutions to address this issue, as Queenslanders deserve to feel safe in their communities. It's time for the government to take a more proactive approach, and we will not stop until real change is achieved.
Thank you everyone for your support and if there is ever anything I can do for you, please reach out of my office on (07) 5600 1100 or via email at southport@parliament.qld.gov.au.
