The City is investigating a proposed world class arena as the next major project to solidify the Gold Coast as one of Australia’s entertainment capitals.
The City is investigating a proposed world class arena as the next major project to solidify the Gold Coast as one of Australia’s entertainment capitals.
The venue for premium live events for up to 12,000 fans is proposed for Carey Park, Southport, due to its location adjacent to the iconic Broadwater and being highly accessible and well connected to all transport networks.
This event ready location is complemented by dining, bars, retail, recreation and accommodation options for before and after events.
The Gold Coast is currently missing out on entertainment, sports and live music performances because it doesn’t have a suitable mid-sized indoor venue.
After extensive investigation and studies, the City found that an arena in Southport is envisaged to be a catalyst for investment in the CBD, create hundreds of jobs and boost our visitor economy.
We want to hear what you would like to see and experience, as well as the opportunities for the public plaza and civic space and creating better connections to the CBD and Broadwater Parklands.
The arena will help attract a greater variety of international and national music acts, major sporting events and family entertainment to the Gold Coast.
Key benefits are:
- Generate $1.5 billion in economic output over the first 10 years
- Inject $700 million value added into the economy over 10 years
- Create up to 740 full-time jobs during operation
- Host up to 80 major events each year
You can have your say on the proposed Gold Coast Arena between 7 November and Monday 9 December 2024. You can also go into the draw to win one of four $250 gift vouchers (terms and conditions apply).
